In a typical business, ROI is short for Return On Investment and is the barometer by which commercial ventures and opportunities are evaluated. At Goodwill Bridgepointe Services, our ROI stands for the "Return of Independence." This is achieved when a person or family with a disadvantage is able to rejoin society.

Goodwill BridgePointe Services 2006-07 Outcomes

Agency Wide Outcomes

  • 1,140 individuals received services, an 18% increase over the prior year 
  • Goodwill International awarded BridgePointe the "Stewardship Excellence Award" for the collaboration with Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Hospital.
  • 1,160 volunteers provided 17,556 hours of valuable services to the organization
  • Budget goals were achieved for the fiscal year
  • Board of Directors initiated a new Strategic Plan and a Capital Campaign
  • A new Advisory Board was formed and contributed strongly in its first year of service

Career Services

  • Over 500 adults were served by the Career Services Team
  • 14 individuals graduated from Office Skills Training and obtained OPAC Certification
  • 80% of individuals with disabilities retained employment 90 days
  • Satisfaction surveys from employers indicated 100% satisfation
  • Consumer surveys indicated 96% satisfaction
  • A $3,000 Anna E. Casey Grant from Goodwill Industries International funded the beginning of the agency's Family Strengthening philosophy to address the needs of families of our clients and employees 

Youth Services

  • 15 youth participated in the Great Expectations Career Camp held in July 2006 
  • During 2006-07, 5 youth graduated from the Young Leaders Today & Tomorrow Program
  • 18 volunteers helped with activities and field trips during Great Expectations
  • Over $18,000 in grant money was received from various organizations to fund the Youth Programs

The Children's Academy a program of Goodwill BridgePointe Services

  • Accredited by NECPA, National Early Childhood Program Accreditation
  • 120 children received early childhood education in an inclusive setting
  • 30% of children have special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Digeorge Syndrome, Juvenile Bipolar Disorder, developmental delays, Downs Syndrome and various genetic disorders 
  • Curriculum based program involes Creative Curriculum as recommended by the State of Indiana, Project Braintree Curriculum Kits, SEIOCC on site training, Kindness College & Social Skills Instruction and Kindergarten Readiness Skills
  • Qualified Staff with lead teachers holding or completing CDA's, Associates or Bachelor's Degrees

Pediatric Family Support

  • 277 individuals participated in consultations with psychology and occupational therapy staff to learn about options for care, diagnoses and treatment for children with disabilities, including autism
  • 214 professionals participated in training to increase their skills in working with children with autism
  • PhD Psychology Staff worked in conjuction with BridgePointe's Children's Academy to offer Kindness College and to address behavior management issues in the classroom
  • Metro United Way awarded second year funding to this award winning collaboration between BridgePointe and Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Hospital

Goodwill Stores

  • Sales increased by 4.8% over previous year in spite of the fire which destroyed our largest store
  • Shoppers increased by 2.4% to total 660,000 shoppers
  • Donations increased by 15% with over 200,000 donors
  • The "100,000 Dreams" Community Donation Campaign included over 100 community partners
  • Goodwill of Southeast Iowa and Goodwill of Kentucky donated goods and equipment to assist with recovery of operations following the fie
  • Salvage sales in our recycling effort increased by 4%
  • Continuous improvement efforts included the Gi Kaizen initiative in four more retail locations
  • $75,000 worth of clothing vouchers were provided to crisis care agencies
