New Seymour Goodwill Location Now Open (11/1/08)
The new Seymour Goodwill BridgePointe store location opened on October 24, 2008 with Grand Opening festivities taking place on October 31.
The new store is located at 1857 E. Tipton Street, Seymour, IN 47274. Stop in and check it out!
BridgePointe Services Goodwill CEO Retiring -- Successor Named (5/22/08)
Don Slone, Chair of the Board of Directors for BridgePointe Services Goodwill, announced today that Caren L. Marshall, CEO of the organization is retiring effective 6-30-08. Mr. Slone said “Caren Marshall has been the face of BridgePointe for 38 years. Caren oversaw the merger of Goodwill and the Southeastern Indiana Rehabilitation Center into the successful organization it is today. Through her leadership the organization expanded services and revenues to help children and adults with disabilities and disadvantages achieve success. Today BridgePointe serves over 5,000 individuals every year and has Goodwill stores in nine Southern Indiana counties. The Board of Directors is extremely grateful for Caren’s excellent leadership and commitment to the mission of BridgePointe Services Goodwill.”
Mr. Slone also announced that the Board of Directors has selected the new CEO, who will take over the reins of the organization on 7-1-08. Candice Barksdale, Vice President of Marketing and Development for BridgePointe was named the successor. According to Mr. Slone, “Candice has done a wonderful job in raising the public awareness of BridgePointe and in leading our capital campaign to success. She is experienced in non-profit leadership, development, and brings a wealth of experience to the organization. The Board of Directors is pleased to name Candice as our new CEO; she will continue the mission of helping people with special needs reach their potential.”
BridgePointe Services Goodwill provides services for children and adults with disabilities and disadvantages. Items donated to Goodwill are sold in the local stores and the proceeds are invested back into the community. Revenues from the store fund a number of services including pediatric therapies, specialized services for children with autism, as well as job training and placement for adults. BridgePointe also provides vouchers for free clothing to several charitable organizations, who serve people in crisis situations.
Mardi Gras Event Brings in Over $45,000! (3/1/08)
On February 9th, supporters of BridgePointe came together at Huber's Orchard & Winery for a night full of fun! The 9th Annual Mardi Gras Bash was a huge success, bringing in over $45,000 in net proceeds plus an additional $11,000 was pledged toward the Capital Campaign that night.
